Traditionally, change was compared
to a river in which there were long stretches of
smooth water punctuated by short stretches of rough
water. We floated along in the smooth water perfecting
our systems. When the rapids came, we geared up
and shot them, and then returned to "normal".
But today, there is a new metaphor - "permanent
white water". Life in organizations today is a continual
series of disruptive, disorienting changes. As a
result, organizations today have greater and greater
needs for skills to manage change, as well as skills
to handle the "people breakage" that accompanies
change.
In our Executive Seminar, Manager's Workshop, and
Employees' Workshop, participants learn how to recognize
their own reactions to change, as well as develop
strategies for moving themselves and others through
change.
Purpose
The purpose of these programs is to prepare managers
and employees for the impact of organizational and
personal change, and to provide them with knowledge
and skills to help them move through this change.
Although there is no quick fix of "pill" for change,
there are methods to enable people to shorten the
period of transition - to make it less painful and
more productive.
Unique Program Benefits
Greater Focus. The onset of change
can be disorienting. The skills of this approach
will help managers and employees gain a focus by
giving them a sharpened sense of direction and control.
Heightened Trust. Almost always
the first thing to suffer during change is the employees’
trust in an organization. By allowing people to
be "heard," the process fosters trust and credibility
in the process and in its leaders.
Greater Involvement. Change tends
to foster the perception of helplessness, which
then translates into a sense of victimization. The
outcomes of this process focus on building a sense
of control by involving people in the change process.
Increased Productivity. Change and low
morale directly affect productivity. The methods
of this approach enable people to focus on key tasks
and to move the change forward.
Renewed Sense of Direction. This
methodology helps organizations regain a sense of
direction and movement toward their goals.
Process Oriented. This approach
to change focuses on key skills of change leadership
and provides processes to implement these skills.
Flexibility. The format of the
process allows flexibility of delivery, and it can
be tailored to focus on an organization’s individual
change situation.
Strong Theoretical Basis. The material
and the instrument are based on valid research and
skills, which have been proven in the workplace.
